Aslambek Aslakhanov: "One third of Chechen electoral rolls is formed by "dead souls"

200 thousand names of 540 thousand included into the electoral rolls in Chechnya were dead souls, State Duma Deputy Aslambek Aslakhanov, one of the contenders for the president of Chechnya, declared in his interview to the Agence France-Presse.

The electoral rolls were formed on the base of the All-Russia Census 2002 results. According to them, since 1991 the population of Chechnya has increased by 200 thousand people, in spite of two bloody wars and flows of many thousands of refugees, and now it amounts to 1,088 thousand people. But for all that the part of the Russian-speaking population has decreased from 40% to 2-3%. From this it follows that the growth of the native Chechen population of the republic has come to 400 thousand people for 12 years.
