Book "War in the Shadow. Russia and Chechnya" has been published in ten thousand copies

The book "Der Krieg im Schatten. Russland und Tschetschenien" ("War in the Shadow. Russia and Chechnya") has been published by the Suhrkampf German publishing house in ten thousand copies. This is a collection of articles compiled by Florian Hassel, the Moscow correspondent of the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper. It was published with the assistance of the Heinrich Boell Foundation. The first presentation of the book was held in the Berlin office of the Heinrich Boell Foundation on September 29, 2003.

Representatives of the Human Rights Center "Memorial" Lipkhan Bazayeva and Aleksandr Cherkasov participated in the discussion which was held during the presentation. Aleksandr Cherkasov's article entitled in the German translation as "Romance with the Kremlin" is included in the book.
