Timashevsk

Rayon (sector) centre in Krasnodar kray (region), 73 km north of Krasnodar. Located in the Kuban-Priazov Lowland, on the Kirpil River. A junction of railway lines (to Krasnodar, Krymsk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Bataysk) and motorways (Yeysk - Krasnodar, etc.). Population (1992 est.) 47.8 thousand, (1979 est.) 38.9 thousand.

City since 1966. Present Timashevsk is the agricultural centre. Food, primarily sugar, industry. A feed mill, a hemp factory, a brickworks, asphalt-mixing plant. An integrated hothouse works, an agrarian-industrial association; railway transport companies.
