Congress of Women of Karachaevo-Cherkessia

The First Congress of Women of Karachaevo-Cherkessia took place in Cherkessk on December 18. 743 out of 785 women sent as delegates from all over the republic took part in its work.

They discussed many problems, ranging from female unemployment, juvenile delinquency, and drug taking to the active participation of women in the republic's political life.

The key result of the meeting is that all women's NGOs in Karachaevo-Cherkessia united into the Association of Women of Karachaevo-Cherkessia. Congress participants approved a statute of the new organization and elected its board.
