Landmine explosion in Chechnya left OMON officer dead

A landmine was activated in the Zavodskoy district of Grozny when a file of OMON (special tasks police platoon) officers was passing by, a source at the Zavodskoy district interior department reported on December 23.

"OMON officers from the Arkhangelsk region were in the file. One OMON officer died and two others got injuries of different severity as a result of the explosion," the source said.

Rebels who activated the landmine are being searched for.
