Problem of supplying electric power to Maysky refugee camp to be settled soon

The decision that the Government of Ingushetia would allot funds from the republican budget every month to pay electricity charges for the Maysky refugee settlement was made at the last session of the Public Council under the President of Ingushetia. The director of Sevkavkazenergo Company and chairman of the Ingush Committee for Refugees have signed a corresponding agreement in Vladikavkaz the other day.

The Maysky camp appeared in 1995 as a spontaneous settlement of Ingush refugees from the Prigorodny district of North Osetia. Its inhabitants have encountered serious difficulties since 2000 because electricity supply has been constantly cut off in Maysky. An aged woman, Gubati Tsurova, died in the winter of 2002 from supercooling, which was caused by a regular disconnection. The Osetian side promised the residents of Maysky to resume supply of electricity, which was cut off on January 4, 2004, in the nearest future.
