Political analysts: early elections to become last stage of velvet revolution in Armenia

The velvet revolution will end if earlier parliamentary elections are held in the coming months, believes journalist Boris Navasardyan. The early elections will end in victory for supporters of the Prime Minister, suggests political strategist Armen Badalyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan opposed amendments to the law on the regulation of the National Assembly. Supporters of Nikol Pashinyan followed his call voiced on October 2 and blocked the parliament building.

It was an effective step to mobilize supporters of the "velvet revolution" at the call of Nikol Pashinyan, believes political observer Akop Badalyan.

"If earlier, a rally was announced long before the event, then this time, several tens of thousands of people gathered within an hour in the centre of Yerevan," Akop Badalyan noted.

According to him, the most likely scenario is the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan, followed by the dissolution of the parliament and early elections in December.

Political strategist Armen Badalyan believes that Nikol Pashinyan will bring his supporters to the streets if any political force tries to nominate its candidate to become the prime minister after his resignation.
