KChR doctors infected with COVID-19 remain without help

The medics of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), infected with COVID-19, have to seek their colleagues' attention and a chance to undergo examination; treatment is expensive; and they have to buy medicines for their own money.

Patients with a malaise cannot get an appointment with a doctor or call doctor home; it's difficult to pass a coronavirus test, Elena Khubieva, a paediatrician, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to her story, on May 21, she had increased temperature; two days later her sense of smell disappeared. "I asked the district doctor to come to me and take a test. She replied that no one would come to me," Ms Khubieva said.

She said that being as medic she managed to achieve a visit of a nurse to her who took a test. On May 31, it turned out that the test was positive. "On June 8, they sent me a notice that we were quarantined and asked about contacts. Two weeks have passed by then," she said.

According to Elena Khubieva, she bought all the coronavirus drugs for her own money – she spent 20,000 roubles on her treatment, and 4000 roubles on the treatment of her disabled daughter.

She has also noted that for the majority of KChR residents such expenses are unbearable.
