Azerbaijan: quarantine regime extended until autumn

Authorities have extended the quarantine regime in Azerbaijan until August 31. The strict quarantine regime, introduced in major cities, has been extended until August 5 with some relaxation, which became possible due to a decrease in the number of new infections.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers, in the cities of Baku, Jalilabad, Ganja, Masalli, Mingachevir, Sumgait and Yevlakh, as well as in the Apsheron, Barda, Goranboy, Goygol, Khachmaz, Siyazan and Sheki Districts, the strict quarantine regime is extended until August 5. Public transport will not work in these cities and dwelling settlements on weekends.

Due to some improvement in the epidemiological situation, the city of Lankaran and the Samukh District were excluded from the above list.

The permissive travel system in force in the country assumes that one category of people will be able to move freely, the second one – by means of online registration, and the third one – after receiving a permit by means of SMS messages.

According to the operative headquarters, by July 17, the total number of infected people reached 26,636, of which 341 persons died.
