Sources report brutal beatings of two more detainees in South Ossetia

Nikolai Tskhovrebov, detained within the attempt case on the head of the South-Ossetian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), was hospitalized with traces of beatings; he cannot walk, the hospital staff has stated. Another suspect, Gennady Kulaev, has been denied advocates' access for a week; information has appeared that he had been beaten and tortured with electric current.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 28, Inal Djabiev, detained within the attempt case on the life of Igor Naniev, the MIA head, died in Tskhinvali. Photos with traces of severe beatings on his body appeared on the Internet. In the context of the inquiry into his death, Naniev was deprived of his powers. The parliament has announced a vote of distrust to Uruzmag Djagaev, Public Prosecutor General.

According to a Tskhinvali resident, there were traces of beatings on Tskhovrebov's body, which he received at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), where the suspects of the above attempt were kept. The source also said that pressure was exerted on Tskhovrebov's mother and relatives.

On the day of Djabiev's death, hundreds of people rallied outside the South-Ossetian government building in Tskhinvali and demanded the resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers (CoM) and the head of the republic. Erik Pukhaev, the Prime Minister, resigned. After that, the entire government was dismissed.
