Azerbaijan reports about 90 civilians killed in shelling attacks

Since the escalation of the Karabakh conflict, 90 civilians from Azerbaijani cities, towns and villages have been killed in shelling attacks, and 392 others have been wounded, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reports. The Azerbaijani government requested the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) to indicate to Armenia to stop shell and missile attacks and withdraw armed forces from Nagorno-Karabakh.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 27, Baku offered Armenia to exchange prisoners of war and expressed the Azerbaijan's willingness to hand over to Armenia the civilians who had failed to leave the combat zone. Besides, the Azerbaijani authorities proposed to unilaterally give out the bodies of the dead.

As of 1:00 p.m., in total, since September 27, 90 civilians of Azerbaijan have been killed, and 392 others have been wounded as a result of shelling attacks, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reports. 2406 private houses, 92 apartment buildings, and 423 civil infrastructure facilities have been destroyed, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports with reference to the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.

The Armenian armed forces violate the ceasefire and shell the territories of the Goranboy, Terter, and Barda Districts, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reports on its official website.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has accepted the Azerbaijan's request for interim measures against Armenia under Rule 39 of the Rules of Court (interim measures). The Azerbaijani government requests the ECtHR to indicate to the Armenian government "to stop shell and missile attacks, from the territory of Armenia and the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on residential areas, public premises, cemeteries and other civil infrastructure in the territory of Azerbaijan," as well as "to stop sending its armed forces, military equipment and so-called 'volunteers' – in fact mercenaries – to the sovereign territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan," the ECtHR states on its official website.
