Volgograd: mobilized father of disabled child denied demobilization

Evgeny Gusakov, a mobilized soldier and a resident of Volgograd, has asked to dismiss him from army service, since one of his three children has a disability status. However, courts have rejected his claim.

Evgeny was on his military service in 2017-2018; he was mobilized again in October 2022. At that time, his wife was pregnant; the child has a disability status and needs medical treatment. Gusakov himself has a serious neurological disease, but the command of his unit refused to dismiss him.

The Volgograd Garrison Military Court has ruled that a child's disability as reason for demobilization is applied only to conscripts, but not to mobilized persons. The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don has upheld the ruling.

The "Caucasian Knot" has earlier reported that Maxim Krivko, a father of many children, who was mobilized from the Rostov Region, also failed to achieve dismissal from service. Instead, he was sent to the frontline. In the Stavropol Territory, the court would not consider the claim of Shakir Ragimov, a father of many children, to cancel his mobilization decision. The regional court has upheld the decision.
