Amnesty International raises its concern about future of Novorossiysk Fund "School of Peace"

The world's biggest human rights organization raises its concern about the future of the Novorossiysk Fund "School of Peace". As local human rights affirm, the authorities of Krasnodar territory began threatening the Fund with closure after it had taken over a work of defending the rights of Turks-Meskhetians. In view of these affirmations Amnesty International issued a statement.

"According to the "Human Rights Defender's Declaration" adopted as a resolution by the UN General Assembly, people and NGOs working for human rights have to be given the necessary freedom to do so and be protected against prosecution of any kind. The state has an obligation to protect those activities against its own representatives and against violent groups who take the law into their own hands," reads the statement.
