Vedeno district mufti has been killed in Chechnya

Rebels have executed Mufti of Chechnya's Vedeno district Shaiman Madagov, sources in the Chechen Interior Ministry told on Sunday.

Several rebels wearing masks broke into the mufti's house in Elistanzhi on Saturday evening. They took the mufti to the yard and shot him.

The Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya has instituted criminal proceedings. The republican police are looking for suspects.
