The village of Ukhtasar in the Askeran region of Nagorno-Karabakh was founded in 2001. Mostly Armenian settlers live here; they came under the state settlement program. The government provided all families who moved to the village with houses and land plots for cultivation. However, in recent years in Ukhtasar there is not enough water to irrigate orchards and gardens, and the houses provided under the program have fallen into desrepair. Saikanush Akopyan and her family moved to Ukhtasar in 2002. They were provided with typical housing. However, the house is now in disrepair and living in it is dangerous
