The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is investigating a complaint lodged by lawyer Roman Melnichenko about incitement of hatred and disclosure of personal data of Alexei Navalny’s supporters in Volgograd by employees of a TV Company. Lawyer Ruslan Nurushev filed an appeal against the police’s refusal of his complaint to conduct an investigation into the legality of the propagandists’ actions.

Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), has met relatives of the victims of the terror act in Beslan. There are many blank spots in the case, the participants of the meeting have asserted. The meeting took place amid the inquiry into the circumstances under which the school building with hostages was stormed, conducted by journalist Elena Milashina.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has recognized the violation of the rights of Ruslan Yandiev and Magomed Mutsolgov, residents of Ingushetia, and of Murad Dingaev, a resident of Dagestan, to the prohibition of torture and has obliged Russia to pay compensation to them.

After considering the appeal complaints, the Volgograd Regional Court has replaced the conditional two-year freedom deprivation term appointed to Igor Nagavkin, a human rights defender, for a real one. Nagavkin treats the decision as unfair and intends to challenge it.

The advocate of Valery Bailo, a convicted Jehovah's Witness* from Kuban (Krasnodar Territory), has filed complaints to the prosecutor's office about the absence of medical care, but was still unable to get treatment for his client, who is suffering from the consequences of a knee injury and acute toothache. The SIZO's medical unit has stated that Bailo needs no emergency care.

Investigators have charged Vladimir Lepsky from the village of Vyselki with reading aloud the books of Jehovah's Witnesses*. The husband of another defendant, Irina Ushakova, is involved in the case as the organizer of an extremist cell, Yaroslav Sivulsky, a representative of the European Association of Jehovah's Witnesses*, has stated.

The draft order by Igor Krasnov, the Russian Public Prosecutor General, to review rehabilitation decisions has no novelties, since rehabilitation of war criminals is prohibited by law. Law enforcers kidnapped Asker Shetov and injured him, after which they falsified a criminal case against him, a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria complained. The Supreme Court (SC) of Kabardino-Balkaria found Asker Shetov not guilty, but the actions of the law enforcers remained unpunished.
